Chogon Temporarily Installed as Community Manager

Mark DeForest, aka 'Chogon', has announced that he will, at least for the time being, be taking over community management duties from GreyDragon, who is on vacation.

Chogon, who is also the Chief Technical Officer at Cyan Worlds, has been with the company since early 1995.

In a post on the Myst Online forums, he also addressed the issue of fan-created content, asking explorers to:

"...please respect this forum's policy about not discussing "hacks", "reverse engineering", etc. of Cyan's products"

for the time being. The full post can be found via the 'Read more' link.

A Gift from Greydragon

At the Myst Online forum, Greydragon has posted a gift.

Greydragon wrote,

The last few weeks I have had time to reflect on what this community has meant to me. As community manager for Myst Online:Uru Live I wanted to give something back for all you have given to me. Uru and the community will always have a place in my heart. The friends I have made over the last few years will remain with me for a lifetime. The experiences I have enjoyed will remain with me for eternity.

Check the forum post for the rest of what Greydragon wrote, and the gift.

Cyan tries for movie

In recent news it would appear that game developer Cyan Worlds is working on getting their most famous game Myst made into a movie. A site by the name of www.mystmovie.com was found in the recent days and had been much debated on by the Myst community over whether it was real or not. It was then confirmed by Cyan's CR Grey Dragon that it was in real.
He was quoted on the UO forums as saying; "For years now Cyan has wanted to make a Myst Movie. Cyan is interested in every avenue that would lead to the production of a full length feature film. In order to get people interested in such a venture there needs to be some momentum behind it. Nothing has been Green-lit, but the folks at www.mystmovie.com hope to change that very soon and we at Cyan support them in this endeavour." So Cyan has begun to along with a mystery partner work toward getting Myst on to film. We will continue to monitor this breaking situation and bring you any updates we find.
